Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

May they prosper who love you

- Psalm 122:6

June 28 God’s eternal covenant: Psalm 89:24-29: John 1:16-17

June 28 God’s eternal covenant: Psalm 89:24-29: John 1:16-17

God’s unique relationship with Israel is manifested in His relationship with David and this Psalm is has a double meaning as it also defines and describes His relationship with Messiah Yeshua. This Messianic prophesy speaks to both the Davidic covenant and the New Covenant.  The former through David and the latter through Yeshua!

Psalm 89:24-29

“But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him,
And in My name his horn shall be exalted.

Also I will set his hand over the sea,
And his right hand over the rivers.
He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father,
My God, and the rock of my salvation.’
Also I will make him My firstborn,
The highest of the kings of the earth.
My mercy I will keep for him forever,
And My covenant shall stand firm with him.
His seed also I will make to endure forever,
And his throne as the days of heaven.

Note that special phrase (used in verses 1, 2 and 24) here translated as “faithfulness and mercy” which we hear throughout Scripture.  As God uses it to describe Himself, the Apostle John uses it to describe Yeshua where it is translated “grace and truth” thus showing that God the Father and God the Son are one!

John 1:16-17

And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.  For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

PRAY FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE TO RECOGNIZE YESHUA IN THIS PSALM.
