God continued describing Himself to Moses reminding us that part of His goodness is His righteousness and justice. His holiness demands punishment for sin.
Exodus 34:7
…keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
- עֲוֹן [avon]: Perversity, depravity, iniquity, crooked behavior according to God’s standards.
- פֶשַׁע [pasha]: A break in a relationship, rebellion against God’s laws.
- חַטָּאָה [chatah] Sin, failure to meet God’s expectations, to miss the target.
But God’s covenant love provides the way of forgiveness. The word for forgive is נֹשֵׂא [nosee] which means to lift and carry away. God lifts the sins from us, and puts them onto the broken body of Yeshua on the Cross.
PRAY ALL PEOPLE WILL SEE THE MERCY AND THE JUSTICE OF GOD.
