God’s unique relationship with Israel: Jerusalem Day

God’s unique relationship with Israel: Jerusalem Day

– Jerusalem Reunification

Today Israel celebrates the reunification of her capital city, the only city in the world which God has chosen as His own.

2 Chronicles 6:4-6

And he said: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His hands what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying, ‘Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have chosen no city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house, that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel.  Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’

From 135 AD when Rome destroyed Jerusalem and banished the Jews, the city remained under Gentile control.  In 1947 Israel became a State, but Jerusalem was divided.  Jordan continued to occupy and control the eastern side, but the Jews occupied and controlled the western side. On June 7, 1967 the Israel Defense Force liberated the city and united the city.

However, to this day, the nations of the world are fuming and insisting that Jerusalem be divided once again.

Zechariah 12:1-6

The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.  And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.  In that day,” says the Lord, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the Lord of hosts, their God.’  In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem.

The nations of the world will never succeed in taking the City of the King of all kings!

PRAY FOR THE CITY OF JERUSALEM TO BECOME THE ROYAL DIADEM IN THE KING”S CROWN.
