Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

May they prosper who love you

Reformation

Martin Luther has been celebrated as a great leader and defender of Christianity.  He confronted the traditions, rituals and false teaching of the Catholic church. His cry was:

  • By Scripture alone
  • By faith alone
  • By grace alone

Yet, at the end of his life, he turned viciously against the Jews.    The rules and actions he promoted against the Jews were followed 5 centuries later by Nazi Germany.

He said: “We are at fault in not slaying them. God’s anger with them is so intense, that gentle mercy will only tend to make them worse, while sharp mercy will reform them but little. Therefore, in any case, away with them!”

Renounce the lie:

“Next to the Devil you have no more bitter, more poisonous, more vehement an enemy than a real Jew who earnestly desires to be a Jew.” (Martin Luther)

Hosea 2:19-20

“I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.
(NKJV)

The Judensau is on the outside of the church where Martin Luther preached. It is a style of art popular from 13th century. It depicts Jewish men and children in obscene sexual acts with a female pig.
