The issue of “chosen-ness” is uncomfortable, especially for those who are not chosen. Personally I remember with sadness even to this day, those times in sports class when teams were chosen. As the unchosen group got smaller I pleaded silently, “O God don’t let me be the last one.”
God’s choice is different. God chose Israel because He loved the rest of the world. Doesn’t make sense? Well it does if you understand God’s reasoning.
For the next few Tuesdays we will pray God’s choice of Israel from Isaiah 43.
Isaiah 43:1, 4, 10,21: But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
“Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you.
“You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He.
“This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise.”
