March 28: Passover – Yeshua as the Passover Lamb of God

Yeshua as the Passover Lamb of God

While John was baptizing the Jews in the Jordan, he saw Yeshua coming to the river.  Today we don’t really understand how startling John’s declaration was that Yeshua was the “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.”  John was combining two holiday sacrifices – the Passover lamb and the goats of the Day of Atonement.

Today we’ll consider Yeshua as the Passover Lamb of God.

John 1:29

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

1 Corinthians 5:7b

For indeed Christ, our Passover was sacrificed for us.

Even the worship of Heaven refers to Yeshua as the Lamb:

Revelation 5:11-13

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
to receive power and riches and wisdom,
and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
be to Him who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Recognizing Yeshua, the Lamb of God who takes away my sin and the sin of all those who will believe in Him.
