-Renaming of Judea
The final battle of the Bar Kochba revolt was on the 9th of Av (see series, “Tisha B’Av).
Jerusalem was plowed and a Roman city built over the ruins. Hadrian changed the country’s name from Judea to Syria Palestina after the most hated of Israel’s enemies, the Philistines. Jerusalem was renamed Aelia Capitolina. This renaming was a fulfillment of the prophecy of the Psalmist:
Psalm 83:1-4
Do not keep silent, O God!
Do not hold Your peace,
And do not be still, O God!
For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (NKJV)
Over the years the name “Syria Palestina” morphed into “Palestine.” We need to remember that “Palestine” was always a Jewish land and country and people.
Renounce the lie:
In Yeshua’s name I renounce the lie that the Promised Land was to be possessed by the Gentile nations.
Replace with the truth:
Joshua 1:2-4
“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.” (NKJV)
