1 Samuel 7:3-4
Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the Lord only.
God was and continues to be ready, willing and able to save Israel from her enemy, just as He is available to all who will call upon Him. He desires and requires only one thing – total love, trust and obedience. Today Israel doesn’t worship the Ashtoreths and Baals, but there are still foreign gods in her midst.
PRAY THAT ISRAEL WILL CLEANSE HERSELF OF ALL FOREIGN GODS, INCLUDING THE “GODS” OF HUMANISM, MATERIALISM AND TRADITION.
[Beit She’an]
In the famous battle of the Israelites against the Philistines on Mount Gilboa, the dead bodies of King Saul and his son Jonathan were hung on the walls of Beit Shean (1 Samuel 31:10).
