Salmos 63:1-5
1 Ó Deus, Tu és o meu Deus,
eu Te busco intensamente;
a minha alma tem sede de Ti!
Todo o meu ser anseia por Ti,
numa terra seca, exausta e sem água.
2 Quero contemplar-Te no santuário
e avistar o Teu Poder e a Tua Glória.
3 O Teu Amor é melhor do que a vida!
Por isso os meus lábios Te exaltarão.
4 Enquanto eu viver Te bendirei,
e em Teu Nome levantarei as minhas mãos.
5 A minha alma ficará satisfeita
como quando tem rico banquete;
com lábios jubilosos a minha boca Te louvará.

Selman Abraham Waksman (1888 –1973) was a Ukrainian-born, Jewish-American inventor, biochemist and microbiologist whose research into organic substances—largely into organisms that live in soil—and their decomposition promoted the discovery of Streptomycin, and several other antibiotics.  A professor of biochemistry and microbiology at Rutgers University for four decades, he discovered over twenty antibiotics (a word which he coined) and introduced procedures that have led to the development of many others.  In 1952 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in recognition "for his discovery of "streptomycin," the first antibiotic active against tuberculosis.
