Gottesfurcht kann gelehrt und auch durch ein Beispiel erfasst werden.   Der Psalmist nennt hier Verhaltensgrundlagen.  Doch das Fundament für “Gottesfurcht” ist das Kennen Seines Charakters durch persönliche Erfahrung.

Psalm 34:12-16

12Kommt her, ihr Kinder, höret mir zu!

Ich will euch die Furcht des HERRN lehren.

13Wer möchte gern gut leben

und schöne Tage sehen?

14Behüte deine Zunge vor Bösem

und deine Lippen, dass sie nicht Trug reden.

15Lass ab vom Bösen und tu Gutes;

suche Frieden und jage ihm nach!

16Die Augen des HERRN merken auf die Gerechten

und seine Ohren auf ihr Schreien.

Bete, dass Gottesfurcht auf Israel herabkommt.

The fear of the Lord can be taught as well as “caught” by example.  Here the Psalmist gives the basics of behavior.  But the foundation of the “fear of the Lord” is knowing, by personal experience, His character.

Psalm 34:11-15

Come, you children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Who is the man who desires life

And loves length of days that he may see good?

Keep your tongue from evil

And your lips from speaking deceit.

Depart from evil and do good;

Seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous

And His ears are open to their cry.

PRAY FOR THE FEAR OF THE LORD TO DESCEND ON ISRAEL.
