Atonement, salvation and redemption are all free gifts of God’s grace. But they are the result of man’s recognition of his need AND his decision to turn to God. This is what the psalmist meant by “ordering conduct.” Mankind cannot achieve righteousness through his own efforts.

Psalm 50:22-23

“Now consider this, you who forget God,

Lest I tear you in pieces,

And there be none to deliver:

Whoever offers praise glorifies Me;

And to him who orders his conduct aright

I will show the salvation of God.”
