The Psalms are the worship of Israel. Although they were written to reflect the concerns of the Psalmist and of the people, on an emotional level they can be applied to all who love the Lord God of Israel. Many of the Psalms are prophetic, referring to Messiah of Israel. While everyone can find personal comfort from the Psalms, care must be taken not to distort their national significance to Israel.
Psalm 18 is such a Psalm, referring to a specific historical event, yet applicable spiritually and emotionally to all who love the God of Israel and His Messiah.
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this song on the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
PRAY FOR ISRAEL TO TURN TO GOD FOR THEIR PROTECTION, REDEMPTION AND SALVATION
