Yeshua and the disciples were singing this song in the upper room hours before He was crucified.
Psalm 118:13-14
You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.
The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
In verses 10-12 the Psalmist was using the plural (they, you) form, but suddenly the plural of “you” becomes singular. He speaks to one specific person. As Yeshua spoke these words at this memorable Seder, was He addressing Satan?
Yes Satan would push Him, but the victory belonged to Yeshua.
Psalm 118:22-24
The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Yeshua could rejoice because He knew that everything that was before Him – the rejection and abandonment of His friends, the torture, and the mockery – was all ordained by God. He also knew that His death was not the end of the story.
PRAY ISRAEL WILL REJOICE IN GOD’S PERFECT PLAN.
