God’s unique relationship with Israel does not preclude the necessity of disciplining His children when necessary. With His warning there is always a promise.
Jeremiah 5:18-19
“Nevertheless in those days,” says the Lord, “I will not make a complete end of you. And it will be when you say, ‘Why does the Lord our God do all these things to us?’ then you shall answer them, ‘Just as you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve aliens in a land that is not yours.’
The history of Israel’s relationship with the Lord has been one of continual cycle:
• Israel’s rebellion
• God’s pleading for repentance
• God’s warning
• God’s discipline
• Israel’s return
But soon the cycle begins again.
PRAY THE CYCLE WILL BE BROKEN AND ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED.
