The Resurrection of Yeshua remains the watershed issue of faith. His Resurrection proved the deity of Yeshua. Salvation depends on God’s grace and our faith in the atoning death, burial and resurrection of Messiah Yeshua. Just believing that Yeshua was a good man will not result in reconciliation to God or the forgiveness of sin.
As He had done in the past and continues to do today, God intervened and gave Judah a miraculous victory. After three years of heroic fighting, the Jews regained their country from the oppressors and had self-rule for 100 years.
The Thessalonians were concerned that they might have missed the Rapture and thus be facing the Tribulation (aka that Day.)
Paul continues to comfort them (and us) with signs of what must take place first.
Knowing that the Rapture could come at any moment, Paul exhorted the new Believers to live a life of expectancy not of fear and always to be ready to stand before Yeshua.
That’s good advice for all of us today.
