God promised Abraham that his descendants would be a blessing to all the families of the world. Of course, that means, all the Gentiles of the world! From the beginning of the nation of Israel God made His intentions clear, that Yeshua would be the Savior of the world!
Much of God’s prophetic blessing to Iran (part of ancient Elam) has been fulfilled in recent history. God’s blessing has not and will not involve Israel but was directed solely to Elam.
Assyria’s relationship with Israel was also convoluted. Often God used Assyria to be His tool of discipline. But the pride of the Assyrian king led the army beyond God’s boundaries. As a result, God then disciplined the Assyrians. There are also numerous referrals to “The Assyrian” as a title of the anti-messiah.
From the time Joseph was taken to Egypt there has been a complicated relationship between Israel and Egypt. Israel spent 430 years in bondage to Egypt, then God delivered Israel at the cost of bringing death, devastation and destruction to Egypt. Yet, over the years, Israel often turned to Egypt when in need rather than turning to God.
The object of God’s greatest love is for individuals, regardless of their national or ethnic background. He doesn’t offer redemption, forgiveness of sin and an abundant and eternal life to nations, but to people. Furthermore, God is not a respecter of age, race, or gender.
As all mighty, all knowing, all loving, the Sovereign of Creation He chose a specific land and people to be His witness so that all mankind would know Him. This choice of Israel does not lessen His love and concern for everyone else. But it does define His unique relationship with the people and the land.
God’s choice of Israel to be His witness and their unique relationship, does not decrease His love for all people and nations. Like any good parent, God loves all people equally including, not despite, His plans and purposes for each.
Two of the most frequent phrases in Scripture are, “That they will know,” and “That you will know.” The end of those phrases is usually, “That I am God.” God wants to be known and shows Himself through Creation, His mighty acts and the proclamation of His followers.
To escape the famine in their land Israel went into Egypt. At first, they were treated well because of Pharaoh’s respect for Joseph. Soon however Israel became slaves to the Egyptians and were treated badly.
God always turns Israel’s mistakes into blessings to demonstrate His goodness and His love.
The God of Israel loves celebrations that remember His acts of deliverance. When all Israel is saved through her faith in Jesus, there will be great celebrations and rejoicing in Jerusalem.
