The first word the God of Israel uses to describe Himself is “merciful.” That’s the way we like to think of Him. But He also says that He is holy and just which is why He must punish sin.
We’ve seen how He will discipline Israel before He is able to bless her. Now we must realize and recognize God’s punishment on the nations.
Probably the most debated topic, other than the deity of Yeshua, is the rapture. Although no one knows the day or the hour, there is agreement on what will happen.
Some argue that the rapture is before the Tribulation begins, others argue it is sometime during those horrible 7 years.
God’s judgement will fall on both Jews and Gentiles but, as He did in Egypt, God does make distinctions between Israel (the Jewish people) and the Gentile nations. He gives Israel promises that He does not give to the Gentile nations.
God is jealous, and the Lord avenges;
The Lord avenges and is furious.
The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries,
And He reserves wrath for His enemies;
The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
And will not at all acquit the wicked.
People love to quote this verse, but often omit the first two lines. This is true even outside the United Nations. But there will never be peace until King Yeshua judges and punishes the wickedness of the nations and peoples.
There will come that wonderful day when Jerusalem will fulfill her destiny as the City of Truth, The Mountain of the Lord of hosts, The Holy Mountain, the City of the Great King, and the City of the Lord.
Some today contend that this prophesy was fulfilled when Titus conquered Jerusalem in 135 AD. But the ultimate fulfillment will be through the anti-Christ during the Tribulation.
The promise for God’s righteousness upon the people and of the land of Israel is the object of our longing and prayers. Sadly that time must come after great pain and suffering, but it will come.
There will come a day when Israel will be cleansed of her rebellion. In that day Jerusalem will stand high above the earth as all Israel will serve the Lord in holiness.
