Thirty-nine years had past since Israel waited for Moses at the base of Mt Sinai; waiting for Moses to descend from the presence of the Lord with God’s covenant, instructions for how they were to live as His people.
Israel could be considered to be the stage upon which God reveals Himself to the nations.
Even through His discipline of Israel, God is her ultimate protector and defender.
The word translated as “nations” actually means “gentiles” or “non-Jews.” Job wasn’t looking at various ethnic or geographical nations, but the wicked.
As we saw and prayed yesterday, Israel’s prayers were based on God’s covenant promises.
God’s discipline of Israel is just as much a part of their relationship as are His blessings.
The restoration of the land of Israel is uniquely connected to the people and the God of Israel.
