The problem in Paul’s day (and continuing today) was that the people didn’t know what they didn’t know.
Daniel understood the promise God made to Jeremiah to return the people back to Israel and began to pray for God to fulfill that promise (Daniel 9:1-2).

Today many people make fun of people of faith. They say “Believing in God and in the Bible is for fools.” But the Bible says just the opposite, so does the behavior of those who don’t believe!
God’s merciful grace and favor towards Israel should not diminish the need to address Him with respect.
The Psalmist understood that the fear of the Lord is the “upper part,” the “choice part” of wisdom.
Today we do not understand the both/and of God. As a result, either God is feared and becomes unapproachable or loved without honor.
God described Himself to Moses as being merciful, gracious, patient, abounding in love and truth. Yet He was holy!
Israel could stand before Him in fear AND love. He was great, mighty and terrible, yet He is gracious to mankind.
The Fear of the Lord affects worship:

Paul’s passion for his brethren of the flesh led him to pray for them. His passion for Yeshua led him to proclaim Him to them.
